Writer Kayla Kaplan is ten years old. When she's not at school, she's either at gymnastics or reading. She loves books and always has. She draws constantly, keeping a notebook for whenever ideas strike.

At eight, she was coloring when this story idea hit. What if crayons held magic? Her imagination exploded. She created Elijah, his brothers, the mysterious crayon box, and the rule that magic only works with kind intentions.
